This page explains what personal information Tank Talks collects, how we use it, and your rights — including your California rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA.
If you just want the short version: we don't sell or share your personal information for advertising purposes, we don't run third-party ad networks, and we don't have user accounts. The most personal data we hold about any individual reader is "subscribed to our newsletter" or "clicked an affiliate link" — and you can opt out of both at any time.
Tank Talks collects a small amount of information from readers, depending on what you do on the site:
Standard server logs. Like virtually every website, the servers that host Tank Talks log basic information about each visit: your IP address, browser type, the page you visited, the time, and the page that referred you. This is needed for the site to work and to defend against attacks. These logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to build a profile of you.
Newsletter subscription. If you sign up for our weekly email, we collect your email address and the date you subscribed. That's it. We do not enrich this with third-party data and do not sell or rent the list.
Affiliate clicks. When you click an affiliate link on our site, the destination retailer (typically Amazon) records that the click came from us. We don't see who you are; we just see that a click happened. This is how affiliate commissions work across the entire web.
We do not collect:
To be explicit about things we don't do:
The "share" word matters under California law. Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, "sharing" specifically includes disclosing personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't do that.
Tank Talks uses minimal cookies:
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. If you'd prefer not to allow even functional cookies, your browser settings should give you control.
Depending on where you live, you have specific legal rights regarding your personal information.
You have the following rights:
As stated above, Tank Talks does not sell or share your personal information for advertising purposes. There is therefore nothing for you to opt out of in that specific category. You may still exercise your other rights at any time.
You have the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. You may also object to processing and lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. We rely on legitimate interest for analytics, on consent for the newsletter, and on contract performance for serving the site.
We extend the substantive rights above to all readers regardless of location, on a best-effort basis, even where not legally required.
To exercise any right described above, email hello@tanktalks.sdfkjh.com with the subject line "Privacy request" and tell us what you'd like us to do. We will respond within 30 days.
For verification, we may ask you to confirm the request from the email address associated with your activity on the site (typically your newsletter subscription). If you have not given us any personal information, there is generally nothing for us to delete or disclose.
You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. If you do, we may require proof that you authorized the agent.
Tank Talks is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please email us and we will delete it.
Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking it removes you from the list immediately and permanently. If you never received our emails or never subscribed, no action is needed.
If you have trouble unsubscribing, email hello@tanktalks.sdfkjh.com and we will remove you manually.
We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected:
When we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify newsletter subscribers by email.
For any privacy-related question or to exercise any right described above:
Email: hello@tanktalks.sdfkjh.com Subject line: Privacy request
We aim to respond within 5 business days; the legal maximum is 30 days for CCPA requests and 30 days for GDPR requests.
