Tank Talks is a freshwater aquarium publication covering fish, shrimp, plants, water chemistry, equipment, and the practical knowledge of running a tank well. We don't cover saltwater systems, public-aquarium operations, or fish farming — there are excellent publications for those, and we'd rather do one thing well.
Within freshwater, our coverage falls into a few categories: care guides for species and plants, comparison and decision pieces, diagnostic articles for things going wrong in tanks, and personal experience writeups from our own setups.
Tank Talks is currently a small operation. The same people who write the articles also choose the affiliate placements and run the site. We try to keep that honest by following the principles laid out in our editorial standards.
We try to be useful first and authoritative second. Most aquarium content on the internet is written either to capture search traffic or to sell a product. We try to write things we'd want to read if we were the reader. The full version of how we work is in our editorial standards page.
Affiliate commissions, primarily through the Amazon Associates program. The full disclosure of how this works, what it means for you, and what we won't do is on our affiliate disclosure page.
